Moments

2014-2016

Project Type:
An immersive art installation by Artist Hao Feng focused on mindfulness and reflection, created through insights gathered from interviews and surveys.

Collaborators:
This project draws on the experiences and perspectives of over a hundred students and members of the public, who were interviewed through surveys to shape the direction and content of the installation. Their collective input has been integral in crafting a space that fosters connection, reflection, and a deeper engagement with the present moment.

Project Description: Moments is a contemplative project designed to encourage us to slow down and immerse ourselves in the present. In a world that constantly pulls us toward the future or drags us into the past, as Marina Abramović wisely observed, “We always project into the future or reflect on the past, but we are so little in the present.” This work creates a space for reflection, inviting viewers to step outside the rush of daily life and pause—if only for a moment—to reconnect with the subtle, yet profound experiences that often go unnoticed. Through this project, I aim to inspire mindfulness and offer a gentle reminder that the present is a canvas of beauty, waiting to be appreciated. In each observation, we find an opportunity to embrace the now, cultivating a deeper sense of presence in our lives.

Now O’clock / 11.5″ x 4.5″ x17.5″

Exhibited at Harold B. Lemmerman Gallery, NJ

April 25 – May 6, 2016 Opening: Wednesday, April 27, 2016, 5-8 pm

Now O’clock: I created this clock to symbolize the present moment. Like a metronome, its hands do not move forward or backward; they remain frozen in the here and now, emphasizing the importance of the present. This piece encourages viewers to be present, reminding us that the only moment that truly exists is the one we’re experiencing right now.

Cloud / 12.5″ x 12.5″

Exhibited at Harold B. Lemmerman Gallery, NJ

I created this sculpture to symbolize the present moment, inviting viewers to imagine themselves lying down on this cloud. It encourages a sense of calm and mindfulness, as if floating effortlessly in the now, where time slows down and only the present matters.
